New fuel saving ME engine tailor-made for modern bulk carriers and Suezmax tankers
MAN B&W Diesel have designed a tailor-made fuel saving S65ME-C engine for the latest design of Cape-size modern bulk carriers. This new type of engine was designed to respond to customers specific present and future bulk carrier needs, and it will neatly fit into Suezmax tankers, as well.
Mr Ole Grne, Two-stroke Vice President, Sales and Marketing, MAN B&W Diesel A/S, states:
"We examined the market and received advice from Universal Shipbuilding Corporation in Japan, that there is an increasing need for more dedicated engines for the specialised requirements of more and more refined ship designs. This new engine, the S65ME-C, is the solution for owners and operators in the important sectors of modern large bulk carriers and Suezmax tankers. The engine presents a 7-cylinder alternative to our well-established 6S70MC and 6S70MC-C/ME-C engines, which are, and will continue to be, in the standard designs of many modern bulk carriers. We certainly also expect that the 7S65ME-C will find use in other ship types. It will be the ideal unit for propulsion of large twinengine dieselised LNG carriers. We are very happy to offer this expanding range of engines to our new and existing customers. They will find the appropriate engine for their vessels, whatever segment of the market they are operating in."
